July 2026 - Healthcare providers are navigating an increasingly complex financial landscape. Evolving funding models, changing regulatory requirements and growing expectations around transparency are increasing the need for timely, trusted financial information to support confident decision-making.
As financial interactions become an increasingly visible part of the healthcare experience, organisations are under growing pressure to deliver efficient financial processes with research showing that 78% of service users expect near real-time, streamlined billing.
At Telstra Health, we're continuing to invest in solutions that help address these challenges. In May, we announced Corus™, our new care intelligence ecosystem, designed to support better use of trusted information across the health system to enable more connected care.
The launch of Corus™ reflects our broader focus on delivering solutions that help healthcare providers respond to an evolving healthcare landscape.
That focus is reflected throughout this edition of PowerPoints. From working alongside organisations as they prepare for Medicare Assignment of Benefit requirements to expanding costing and analytics capabilities into aged care, we share practical updates to help healthcare finance teams navigate change with confidence.
We'll also highlight upcoming opportunities to connect with our team at HFMA events later this year, where we'll continue exchanging ideas with customers and discussing the future of healthcare finance.
Read on to explore the latest updates and discover what's new from PowerHealth.
Thank you for your continued partnership.

Updates to PBRC to meet Medicare Assignment of Benefit changes
|
|
Assignment of Benefit changes were originally due to come into full effect from 1 July 2026. However, the Australian Government recently announced a 12-month transition period, which, based on current Government guidance, allows verbal assignment of benefit to continue - alongside the requirement to keep the documented agreement for two years - for all bulk billed patients across all care settings.
Importantly, new requirements for simplified billing arrangements for privately insured hospital and hospital substitute treatment services remain scheduled to commence from 1 July 2026.
PowerHealth has been preparing for these changes since early 2026. Both PBRC-AE and PBRC-IE have successfully completed Services Australia compliance testing and received Notices of Integration, with product enhancements including a new DB4 Post Assignment form and updates to inpatient consent workflows now available and designed to support customers on their compliance journey.
If you haven't already scheduled your upgrade, please contact your Account Manager, who will work with you to plan your implementation.

Bringing advanced costing insights to aged care
|
|
PowerHealth is partnering with HealthConsult on a residential Aged Care cost study designed to improve understanding of the true cost of delivering care in residential settings.
Combining HealthConsult’s sector expertise with PowerHealth's advanced costing capabilities and Aged Care solutions, the study is intended to help build a clearer picture of aged care delivery costs and support future funding and pricing discussions.
As Aged Care demand continues to grow and reform progresses, access to robust costing data will play an increasingly important role in supporting informed, sustainable decision-making across the sector.
This is an exciting collaboration for PowerHealth, and we will keep you updated on the study's progress and the insights it generates in future editions of PowerPoints. For information on partnering with PowerHealth please contact your Account Manager.
